In the heart of London between Covent Garden (0.2 miles) and Soho (0.3 miles) and just off from Trafalgar Square (less than 100 yards) is the St Martins Lane hotel London.
Once a 1960's office building but now a top class hotel. St Martins Lane itself
can claim to have a history dating back some 2000 years. Along this stretch of
road is the famous coliseum theatre and Stringfellows nightclub. Just to the
south is Trafalgar square, now pedestrianised and its once famous pigeons have
long since gone. Surrounded by some of the best known attractions and Theatres as well as walking distance from the Royal Opera House. Leicester Square is 200
yards to the north west and is where you will find many of clubs along with a cinema, restaurants and central garden area. The square also makes up part of
what is known as London's west end and most central nightlife areas. The numerous local attractions within 1 mile
include the National Gallery (0.1 mile), Nelsons Column (0.1 miles), Admiralty Arch (0.1 miles), London Transport Museum (0.2 miles), Cleopatra's Needle (0.3 miles), Trocadero Centre
(0.3 miles), Downing Street (0.5 miles), British Museum (0.5 miles), London Eye (Millennium Wheel) (0.6 miles), Cabinet war Rooms (0.6 miles), Houses of Parliament (0.7 miles), Westminster Abbey
(0.7 miles) and Buckingham Palace (0.9 miles). Hotel: Designed By Renowned French Designer Philippe Starck to reflect the locations vibrancy and sense of fun with what the St Martins Lane hotel calls its "Hotels As Theatre" philosophy. What you will find is a hotel that has no sense of the norm, providing funky and original interiors with a highly personalised service and a minimalist style. The experience starts as soon as you enter the hotel lobby with its continuous slabs of Portuguese Moleanos Limestone, white and yellow walls and dramatic centre columns. Rooms: Each of the hotels guest bedrooms Is beautifully appointed and decorated with rich colours and furnished with Philippe Starck designed furniture. They feature floor to ceiling windows with interactive lighting (you can tailor the mood of lighting using a spectrum of colours to your own tastes) with ambient control. Other room features include: panoramic views, Down comforters and pillows, Egyptian cotton sheets, wide screen TV with cable channels, Lucite chair, stools made in African villages, DVD Library of over 1,500 films and DVD player, Entertainment centre, dual telephone lines with private numbers and data port, fresh flowers, stocked fridge, safe and Wi-Fi high speed internet access. The luxurious over-sized bathrooms, which make use of porcelain and limestone, have top brand toiletries supplied and feature free standing baths. There is a full turn-down service and newspapers of your choice can be delivered to your room upon request. Room service operated 24/7. On the first floor are special Garden Rooms which have their own landscaped patio gardens. There are also options for a luxury Penthouse and an Apartment suite. These have open loft-like layouts. Dining: Asia de Cuba restaurant: Serves a mix of Asian and Cuban dishes and even has a chocolate menu. The environment here is energetic, sophisticated and relaxed within a colonnaded space with soaring 'art columns' (with arty applications on each). Bento Boxes provide another option for lunch or a pre-theatre choice. Also serves cocktails. Open: 07.00 till 11.00, noon till 14.30, 17.30 midnight (till 23.30 Sundays). Rum Bar: Located on the edge of the Asia De Cuba is based on an English pub with “lean-on” tables. The Light Bar: The setting uses atmospheric lighting and innovative use of space to create a vibrant and cosy venue. The bar is separated into four distinct niches each bathed in different colours. The ceilings are extra high at 20 foot. Photos from Jean Baptiste Mondino adorn the walls showing people with funny expressions. In-house cocktails of note include Raspassion Martini, Lighten Up Champagne, Strawberry Cheesecake and Lychee and Elderflower Collins. D.J's Thursday till Saturday. Live music some nights. Open (for guests and members only): 15.00 till 03.00 (from 17.30 Saturday, 17.30 till midnight Sunday). Afternoon tea and coffee is served within the hotel. More: Fitness centre (Gymbox) with state of the Art equipment located with the hotel. Personal trainers can be requested. Open: 06:30 till 23:30 (Saturday 10:00 till 18:00, Sunday 10:00 till 16:00). Business services (Laptop computers, mobile phones and fax machines available upon request) are available along with Meeting space for up to 80 people. In-room massage and spa services available from Agua at Sanderson upon request. The hotel offers 24 hour concierge services and an Express check-in and check-out service is available. St Martins Lane features a multilingual staff that is well trained in customer service. Below the hotel is the India Mahdavi-designed 'Bungalow 8' nightclub, an exclusive members only bar and a sister to the New York venue of the same name.
